Curbside Solid Waste Pickup
Exeter provides curbside collection of household rubbish, recyclables, bulky waste and limited leaf and grass pick-up through a contract with Northside Carting, Inc. Rubbish, recyclables and bulky waste are collected on the same day of the week.
Holiday Information - Pick-up will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week after the holiday. The following holidays are observed by Northside Carting:
Household Trash - "Exeter Blue Bags"
Bags must be tied and not exceed weight limit stated on bag (approximately 45lbs for large).
** Blue Bags may be purchased at: Arjay's, Convenient Grocer, Deep Meadow Variety, Extra Mart, Gerry's Variety, High Street Market, Market Basket - Stratham and Epping, Shaw's, Stop & Shop, and Walgreens.
Items that are NOT accepted curbside:
Recycle Totes ($45) with wheels and small recycle bins ($12) may be purchased at the Public Works Department. At this time only cash and checks are accepted (pay to: Town of Exeter).
Do not place recyclables in plastic bags for collection!
Items that are NOT recyclable in our program:
Northside Carting will pick-up one (1) bulky item per week with a $5 sticker. Place the item curbside on your regular trash day. Bulky stickers may be purchased at the Town Office. Bulky items include household furniture, rugs (not carpet) rolled & tied, and other similar items that can be lifted by two people and fit in the back of a garbage truck. Bulky items are not accepted at the Transfer Station.
Does not include: Very large items such as picnic tables, pianos, hot tubs, appliances, electronics and construction debris (doors, windows, carpet, toilets, sinks, etc).
Leaves and Grass
Fall leaf and grass clipping pick up will be November 18 - 22 with a 12 bag limit per residence.
Northside Carting picks-up leaves and grass curbside twice each year (1 spring and 1 fall date). Bags must be biodegradable paper bags and placed curbside by 7 a.m. on your rubbish collection day. Bags are available to purchase at local hardware stores. In addition, leaves and grass can be taken directly to the Transfer Station (no permit required) during hours of operation.
Leaves and grass either taken to the Transfer Station or collected curbside is composted and made available to residents free of charge. For availability contact jperkins [at] town [dot] exeter [dot] nh [dot] us (subject: Compost%20Availability) (Public Works)!
Public Works will pick up Christmas trees curbside for a limited period. Pick up will be on the same day your trash and recycle is collected. All tinsel, lights and ornaments must be removed and please do not place tree in a plastic bag. Christmas trees and wreaths (no decorations) can be taken to the Transfer Station, no permit required.
