Town of Exeter New Hampshire Official Website

Exeter is home to a series of great events throughout the year.  Like any New England town, it's always a great idea to visit Exeter and experience one of the four seasons of New England.  Below is a basic list of happenings and things in Exeter that may catch your eye and make your visit that much more pleasant.  For the most recent listing of events, click here:

Oyster River Players:  The Oyster River Players is a children's theater company. They have a broad repertory but special interest and experience in children's musical comedy. It has been awarded an outreach grant by the New Hampshire Council of the Arts through the Greater Piscataqua Charitable Foundation. A children's theater company can be a genuine community asset.  Performances are scheduled for the Town Hall, 9 Front Street, Exeter.

NHSPA Membership Art Exhibitions: January - February.  Location: Town Hall, 9 Front Street.

NHSPA Membership Art Exhibition: January - February . The New Hampshire Society of Photographic Artists (NHSPA) supports contemporary photography as a means for creative expression and cultural insight. NHSPA focuses on the education and artistic development of its members and the community by providing exhibitions, publications, education, and outreach programs.

The NHSPA has an Annual Exhibit in Exeter inside of the Town Hall, 9 Front Street.

Town Election/Town Meeting is one of oldest forms of democratic participation in America. Originating in New England during the initial founding of the colonies, the Town Meeting has called for a gathering of citizens to decided the important issues in front of the Town. However, much has changed about the Town Meeting process since the founding of Exeter.  Citizens of Exeter vote each March in the Town Election, held the second Tuesday of each year, for their local officers, budget, and bond issues.

Festival of Trees.  This event, also sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, is a silent auction on Christmas Trees donated by local businesses.  The event takes place the same night as the Holiday Open House.  This is always a very popular event, as people tour the Town Hall, viewing all the beautifully decorated trees.  Bids are submitted and the winners pick them up the next day.  Each tree carries unique coupons and discounts.  Come bid on a tree and help support the Chamber Children's Fund!

Exeter Holiday Parade.  The Town's annual Holiday Parade is a great Exeter tradition, on the first Saturday in December.  Come to Downtown Exeter or lineup on Portsmouth Avenue and enjoy the event which also features our fantastic Christmas Light Display downtown!

Christmas Eve.  An Exeter tradition is to line the streets with lanterns to help Santa's sleigh find its way into Town.  Keep an eye out for the lanterns - better than air traffic controllers!
