New Rates Announced for Exeter Community Power

Exeter, NH - July 12th, 2023: Exeter Community Power is pleased to announce that its energy supplier, the Community Power Coalition of New Hampshire (CPCNH), reports in their Q2 report that energy supply rates are set to decrease leading to more savings for Exeter Community Power ratepayers. New rates going into affect in August will last until the end of January 2024 and are projected to generate $5.5 million in savings across the Community Power Coalition's member communities.

So far the coalition has enrolled approximately 75,000 customers across the state, creating $14 million of value in the first three months of the program. More recently, the coalition has grown to 35 cities, towns, and counties representing more than 24% of the New Hampshire population.

With these lower rates, ratepayers in Exeter have a unique opportunity to help support renewable energy projects by opting up to energy supply plans with higher percentages of renewables. When Exeter Community Power Launched, the "Clean 100" plan with 100% from renewable sources cost 19.1¢ per kilowatt hour. Now that same plan has dropped to 15.2¢ per kilowatt hour, which is cheaper than the price of the default Granite Basic plan (23.4% renewables) was when the program launched. For residents not able to invest in solar panels or other renewable energy projects, opting up is a small way that they can help Exeter become more sustainable.
