The collections office collects property tax revenues, water revenues, and sewer revenues. Residents can pay their property tax and water/sewer bills in person at the office. The office also handles tax liens, lien releases, and other tax issues. Water and sewer billing issues are handled by the Department of Public Works.
Exeter bills semi-annually for property taxes, with due dates of July 1st and December 1st. Bills are mailed at least 30 days in advance of the due date. The Tax Collections Department collects all property taxes for the Town, County and Local and Regional Schools. It also collects the State Education property tax.
Exeter bills quarterly for water/sewer services. Collections will answer questions about amounts due. Billing questions related to consumption or other aspects of the bill are handled by the Department of Public Works at 773-6157.
The collections department is staffed by 2 full time personnel, a Deputy Tax Collector and a Collections Specialist.
Property Tax bills are generated and mailed twice a year. The first bill is mailed in May and is due the first business day in July. The second bill is mailed
The Town of Exeter's policy is to adjust water & sewer bills if the problem rests within the Town’s system.
