Tax Exemption and Credit Advisory Committee

Committee Charge

The purpose of the Tax Exemption and Credit Advisory Committee is to research and review all Town tax exemption and credit programs. In addition, the committee is charged with researching available credit and exemption programs the Town has not adopted to make recommendations on whether these should be adopted, and at what level. All recommendations will be made to the Select Board for further consideration by the Town. These recommendations arise from the GROW section of the Town Master Plan, specifically sections 5a and 5b of that section.

Advisory Committee recommendations may include potential action on the following:

  • Elderly Exemptions
  • Veterans Credits (all types)
  • RSA 79E
  • RSA 72:81
  • Disabled Exemption
  • Blind Exemption
  • Deaf Exemption
  • Solar Exemption
  • Wind Powered Energy Exemption
  • Woodheating Energy Systems Exemption
  • Electric Energy Storage Systems Exemption
  • Renewable Generation Facilities & Electric Energy Systems Exemption

Membership of the Committee shall consist of five (5) residents, to include one member of the Select Board, who shall be a voting member of the committee. Terms of membership shall be 3 years, ending April 30th . Initial terms shall be set for 1, 2, and 3 years, and thereafter be set at 3 years. Members may be re-appointed for subsequent terms. The Committee shall elect offices of Chair, Vice-Chair and Clerk serving one year terms each. Terms of officers may be renewed in consecutive years.

The Committee shall meet monthly for the first calendar year after establishment and periodically thereafter. The Committee shall provide an annual report to the Select Board.

As a public body serving the Town, the Committee shall abide by State “Right-to-know” laws as enacted under Chapter 91-A of the NH Revised Statutes Annotated.
