Seeking Volunteers for Exeter's Window Insert Community Build

The Energy Committee partnered with the non-profit organization Window Dressers to bring low-cost Window Inserts to Exeter in January 2025.

Throughout the fall, once window order requests were received, energy committee volunteers went to peoples homes to measure windows in order to design the custom inserts.  Between January 18th and 23rd, 86 volunteers and customers came to assemble 189 reusable window inserts.  The inserts easily slide into existing window openings.  The clear plastic is see-through and therefore does not impede views.  The insert provides substantial added insulation, improving the energy efficiency of people's homes, immediately delivering home heating costs.

In addition to a wonderful cohort of volunteers, this project would not have been possible without the grants and donations received to support the low-income discounts and lunches. We are also deeply thankful to the many hours of support volunteers gave to this project.
