Tax Rate Distribution

Exeter's 2024 property tax rate is $26.78 per 1,000 of assessed valuation.  The rate is made up of four components: Town, School, State Education, and County.

The School Rate includes both the Local School District (Main Street and Lincoln Street Schools) and the Exeter share of the Exeter Region Cooperative School District.

In late October or November each year, a new tax rate is set for each category based on that year's budget, and changes in assessed valuation. The Town has various tax exemption programs for veterans, seniors, and the disabled, which impact the total tax rate. Property taxes are typically due and payable July 1st and December 1st of each year.

The Town's latest property tax rate was set on November 03, 2023 by the New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration.  Tax bills are due December 13th, 2023.   Cash, Check, Mastercard, Visa, Discover Cards and eChecks are accepted for property tax bill payments.

The new tax rate is reflected on the second half property tax bills.
