Epping Road ER Zone

Economic Revitalization Zone

The New Hampshire Department of Resources and Economic Development has approved more than 40 zones around the state for the Economic Revitalization Zone program.  Businesses located in ER zones may apply for tax credit against the Business Profit and Business Enterprise taxes.  To qualify for the program, existing businesses must expand and/or create jobs. This can be accomplished by acquiring new equipment or hiring a new employee. To apply for the program, interested businesses must fill out an ERZ-2 form for the NH Division of Economic Development.

In Exeter, the recently approved Economic Revitalization Zone, or "ER Zone", occupies a 1.5 mile stretch along Epping Road corridor and includes 720 acres.

The ER Zone is approved for multiple land uses under the town's zoning ordinances.  The first section of the zone, consisting of the land just north of route 101, is divided into a commercial area (C-3) and a Neighborhood Professional area (NP).  The second section of the zone, 88% of the total ER land, spans between 101 and Brentwood Road. Zoning classifications in this area include commercial (C-2 and C-3), corporate technology (CT-1), industrial (I), and multi-family residential (R-4).  Diagrams of each zone are available in the slideshow.  The multiple types of zoned uses for the land provide the opportunity for a variety of development projects.
