Rockingham Economic Development Corporation CEDS Report
The Rockingham Economic Development Corporation (REDC) releases a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy each year for Rockingham County. Its purpose is to develop a document that can be used to aid in the development of the region and help town and city government's by providing data on important factors throughout the county.
The first step in creating the CEDS is the formation of the CEDS steering committee. The REDC uses the previous year's committee as a starting point and tries to reach out to major interest groups and under represented areas to create a diverse and accurate representation of the county. Meeting are held in different towns and cities to further facilitate the diversity and sense of representation on the committee.
Next, data of the existing economic conditions of the county are gathered and analyzed. This is done in partnership with the Rockingham area Regional Planning Commission. These groups compile information on the previous 12 months to be reviewed in each document.
Meetings are held where the data, current projects, and possible new projects are discussed. The document also lists projects that were completed throughout the course of the year.
Each study is broken down into four major parts: Steering Committee, The Regional Economy, Development Strategies and Activates, and Evaluation.
