Exeter, NH Celebrates Community Media Day
Calendar Date:
October 20th, 2022 is Community Media Day
At their October 11th, 2022 meeting, the Exeter Select Board proclaimed that October 20th shall be Community Media Day in the Town of Exeter, NH. Community Media Day is an annual celebration of voices that bring awareness to the importance of free speech and accessible media for all individuals to have their voices heard. It's also a day to celebrate the community media centers across the nation that work tirelessly to cover local government meetings, local news, and provide the programming and services to allow residents to express themselves through media. Community Media Day was founded in Brooklyn, New York but is celebrated all throughout the world by anyone who wants to ensure that the media landscape remains inclusive for all artists, across all forms of media.
In Exeter, our local community access TV station is Exeter TV. The station is comprised of Public Access channel 98, Education channel 13 (Blue Hawk Media), and the Government channel 22. Together, Exeter TV serves as a platform for residents to express their ideas and for the Town and SAU16 to connect with its residents about a range of topics. Town staff operate channels 98 and 22 and channel 13 is operated by SAU16.
Exeter TV proudly produces The Exeter Biweekly Report, a magazine show covering local news and updates from Town departments, committees, and local non-profit organizations. You can watch the report every other Friday at 12 PM on YouTube, Facebook, or Channel 98.
Residents in Exeter are welcome to submit premade programming to air on Channel 98. Residents can also work with Exeter TV staff in the studio or in the field to create their own programming from scratch. In the past, we've had programming ranging from How To Fitness videos to talk shows about UFOs.
