ICAC Task Force
ICAC Task Force
The Exeter Police Department is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The ICAC is a federal anti-crime initiative funded by the US Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. It is a collaboration of city, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies whose mission is to identify, arrest, and prosecute individuals who: (1) use the Internet to lure minors into illicit sexual relationships; or (2) use the Internet to produce, distribute or solicit child pornography. In New Hampshire, the ICAC is managed by the Portsmouth Police Department, where it was established in 1998.
The Exeter Police Department joined the task force in 2005 and assigned Sgt. Michael Munck to it. If you have any concerns about children and technology, he can be reached at 603-772-1212 or mmunck@exeternh.gov.
What are the Crimes?
-Sexual Solicitation: It is illegal for anyone to ask a child over the Internet to engage in any sex act online or in person.
-Sending pornography: It is illegal for anyone to send a child sexually explicit images or pornography over the Internet.
-Child Pornography: It is illegal for anyone to produce, send, receive, or possess any sexually explicit images/movies containing anyone under the age of 18. This law includes children taking and/or sending inappropriate pictures of themselves (aka sexting).
