Exeter, NH - March 27th, 2025:

Today marked the 40th anniversary of Ofc. Stephen Petroski’s tenure with the Exeter Police Department.

Ofc. Petroski began his career with EPD in 1985 after having proudly served in the US Army as a Military Police Officer. He said his main attraction to policing in Exeter was the community and the opportunity to positively interact with the public.

In 2008, Ofc. Petroski retired from full-time status but remained working in a part-time capacity with EPD.

In 2015, Ofc. Petroski was asked if he had any interest in teaching D.A.R.E. He said he would be open to the opportunity and it proved to be a perfect match. Ofc. Petroski said the new position gave him renewed inspiration and that he tells the students: “you are all the reason that I’m here every day”.

In 2017, Ofc. Petroski was named the State of NH’s top DARE Instructor. Then, in 2021, he was named DARE Instructor of the Year by DARE ( a first for NH)! “It became evident to me very early on when Steve began teaching DARE that this was in fact his calling. I’ve watched him thrive over the years in making bonds with the students and staff alike. He is always so passionate about the curriculum and with reaching every one of his students. I consider Steve the GOAT of DARE Instructors,” said Chief Stephan Poulin.

Congratulations in achieving this 40 yr. milestone Ofc. Petroski!
