Linden Street Bridge over Exeter River Rehabilitation

Project Type:
Land Use
Project Status:
Approved

The Linden Street Bridge rehabilitation project aims to stabilize and improve Bridge No. 081/046 over the Exeter River by encasing the deteriorating timber abutments and wingwalls within a soil nail wall, repairing the approach pavement, and replacing the substandard bridge rail. Built in 1993, the bridge has experienced settlement and bulging in its abutments and wingwalls, leading to ongoing pavement issues and structural concerns. To address this, a soil nail wall will provide necessary reinforcement, while the outdated bridge rail will be replaced with an AASHTO-MASH crash-rated system. Construction bids received in December 2024 significantly exceeded available funds. In March 2025, Town Meeting approved $1,257,900 to complete the rehabilitation. Construction is anticipated to begin Summer 2025.
