Exeter Parks and Recreation offers several employment opportunities throughout the year.  We have summer camp positions, lifeguard positions, concession stand, referee positions, and facility supervisor positions.  Please fill out an application (attached below). Please return completed applications to the Exeter Parks and Recreation Department, 32 Court Street.

Summer Camp - Counselor In Training: 40 hours a week for 8 weeks.  Wage range is $13.00-$15.50 per hour. 

Summer Camp - Camp Counselor: 40 hours a week for 8 weeks. Wage range is $15.00-$17.50 per hour. 

 

Lifeguard Manager: 30-40 hours a week. Lifeguard Managers supervise pool staff, including WSI’s and lifeguards. The lifeguard manager is responsible for monitoring the facilities and activities at the Dan R. Healy Outdoor Pool. Managers will communicate and enforce rules/ regulations in a personable and professional manner. Working under the supervision of the Exeter Parks & Recreation Department Assistant Director, Lifeguard Managers will ensure the safety of staff and patrons in and around the aquatic facilities and follow their training when responding to any incidents. All jobs are considered seasonal and one-year positions. Once you are assigned a spot on the schedule it is your job to work that spot or get someone to work for you. Not coming to work is grounds for dismissal. Wage range is $20.00-$23.00 per hour.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor:  25-40 hours a week. Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring the facilities and activities at the Dan R. Healy Outdoor Pool. Lifeguards will communicate and enforce rules/ regulations in a personable and professional manner. Working under the direct supervision of the Manager on duty, Lifeguards will ensure the safety of patrons in and around the aquatic facilities and follow their training when responding to any incidents. Lifeguards are also instructors during swim lessons and/or other aquatic programming. All jobs are considered seasonal and one-year positions. Once you are assigned a spot on the schedule it is your job to work that spot or get someone to work for you. Not coming to work is grounds for dismissal. Wage range is $16.00-$20.00 per hour.

The Lifeguard Incentive Program

The Exeter Parks and Recreation Department is offering an incentive program to attract new lifeguards. Knowing the cost of getting certified (or re-certified) can be costly, the department is offering to reimburse the cost of the certification class.  This incentive is available to those lifeguards who are in good standing at the end of the summer. 

Concession Stand Manager: 20-40 hours a week. This position is highly responsible and requires cleanliness, professionalism, accountability and customer service. The Concession Stand Manager is responsible for supervising concession stand staff. There are numerous duties that need to be done on a daily basis and some of them a number of times a day. There should be little “down time” if the job is done properly. We provide customer service to pool patrons, summer campers and park visitors as a whole. Wage range is $18.00-$20.50 per hour.

Concession Stand Attendant: 20-40 hours a week. This position is highly responsible and requires cleanliness, professionalism, accountability and customer service. There are numerous duties that need to be done on a daily basis and some of them a number of times a day. There should be little “down time” if the job is done properly. Concession workers should not view themselves as pool employees but “department employees” that are located in the pool. We provide customer service to pool patrons, summer campers and park visitors as a whole. Wage range is $14.00-$16.50 per hour.
