2012 National Trails Day Event at Raynes Farm

2012 National Trails Day Event October 20th at Raynes Farm

On October 20th, the Exeter Conservation Commission hosted a National Trails Day event at Raynes Farm on Newfields Road. The original event, scheduled in June of this year was postponed due to rain.  We closely followed the weather all week long and with fingers crossed, woke to a foggy, soggy morning.  The weather quickly turned for the better and we couldn't have been more pleased!

The Conservation Commission offered guided history tours of the barn and a trail hike at 11 am and 1 pm.  Though the public is always welcome to walk the trails and the fields, this was the first time we opened the barn to the public.

It was estimated that approximately 50 visitors explored the property and about 22 attended the history tours.  We received lots of compliments about the property with many expressing that this was their first visit to the property.

We hope to have more public events at Raynes with plans for a full moon snowshoe hike this winter and some open barn opportunities for local artists.  If you have ideas for activities you would like to see at Raynes Farm or would like to be notified of future events, email Kristen Murphy at kmurphy@exeternh.gov
