An Environmental Festival Celebrating the Annual Return of the Alewives

 

Like the annual run of the alewives,

the Town of Exeter is excited to announce

the return of the

Alewife Festival.  

 

 

 

 

Scheduled Activities

10AM : The Alewife Run: CALLING ALL RUNNERS  to join us for a ~6 mile group run/jog from Founders Park to Pickpocket Dam.

10:30AM:  Join the 250th Celebration Committee as they unveil the 250 Celebration print created by artists, Sarah Koff.  The print captures the history and natural beauty of the Squamscott River flowing into town.  Only 54 original prints were made and will be available for sale at the Alewife Festival.  

 

 

All Day Activities

Join us at Founders Park (or Exeter Town Hall for bad weather), downtown Exeter, NH for a free and family friendly environmental festival celebrating the annual migration of our river herring.  

There will be educational information and displays for all ages, hourly raffles, and lots of great activities for all ages. 

Here is a sample of what to expect:

  • NH Native Fish Meet and Greet
  • Explore the relationship of Native People with fish and the river, and how it continues today
  • Learn the secret water cleaning skills of native oysters
  • Meet water bugs that tell us if our streams are healthy
  • Learn how to support pollinators, limited supply of native seeds available
  • Electric vehicle display
  • Culvert Cornhole
