Horsepilot Farm in Exeter Conserved
Exeter, NH - April 9th, 2025: On April 9, the Southeast Land Trust of NH (SELT) completed the conservation of the 156-acre Horsepilot Farm, a key property located in Exeter, East Kingston, and Kensington.
Conservation of important natural resources often requires flexibility, strong partnerships and retaining a vision for the future. This project is an excellent example of this. The property was first before the voters for conservation in 2009, as the Rider Property. We were excited to secure positive voter support but project complexities prevented us from moving the project toward completion. In 2023 Southeast Land Trust reached to inquire if we were still able to partner on this tri-town conservation effort. To once again have another opportunity to protect this land through partnership with Southeast Land Trust is a second chance we don't often get. Conserving this property will protect a portion of Great Brook, a major tributary to the Exeter River-a source for our drinking water, a significant wildlife corridor and key wildlife habitat, and priority agricultural soils, in perpetuity. We are excited to be a part of this multi-town effort to conserve this property, and are thankful for SELTs dedication to bring this project across the finish line.
