Veteran Disability Credit
Tax Credit for Service-Connected Total Disability (RSA 72:35)
Requirements
Must have been a resident of New Hampshire for at least 1 year prior to April 1st of the year you are applying. Must have been honorably discharged from the service. Must have a total and permanent, service-connected disability, or be a double amputee or paraplegic because of a service-connected injury. The property on which the exemption is claimed must be your principal place of abode.
Credit Amount
$2,000 credit off property taxes
Applicant must submit a copy of the documentation from the Veteran's Administration certifying total and permanent disability from service connection, along with the permanent application PA29 form, and the veteran's DD214 form. If the property is in a trust or life estate a PA33 form must be submitted with a copy of the trust of deed.
A copy of the letter from the Veteran's Administration certifying that the disability is 100% must be submitted with the credit application, along with the veteran's DD214 form.
A disabled veteran's surviving spouse who has not remarried, is also eligible to apply for this credit.
Notify the Assessor's Office at jwhitten@exeternh.gov with any change of address as this may necessitate the reapplying for this credit.
If you qualify for this credit you will also receive the $500.00 Standard Veteran's Credit.
