Update 5/21/18: This week final grading of sidewalks and driveway aprons will be complete, then sidewalks and road will be paved. Landscaping of both sides of sidewalks & driveways will be finished as well. Towards the end of the week the contractor will remove trailers and equipment off site to start the cleanup. 

Update 5/2/18: Starting Monday, May 7th road work will begin by grinding off the winter binder from the road and replacing with new asphalt. This is expected to take 2 to 3 days. After the base paving is complete guardrails and curbing will be installed. The sidewalk will be graded and paved along with driveway aprons and then final paving. The project is on schedule to be completed by Memorial Day if the weather cooperates.  There will be one lane traffic with traffic control and no detours are expected.  

Update 3/19/18: Construction will begin the week of April 2nd and is anticipated to be completed by the end of May (weather permitting). During the day the bridge will be open to alternating one-way traffic, not detoured. The bridge will be open to 2-way traffic at night and during the weekends. 

Update 11/17/17: Court Street Bridge will be opened by the end of the day, today November 17th. The bridge will be open during business hours but will be reduced to one lane while work continues for the next few weeks. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this project.

Update 10/27/17: Cairns is working steadily to overcome early schedule difficulties associated with the relocation of underground utilities. Cairns continues to maintain the project schedule for substantial completion at the end of October and final completion at the end of November.

Update 10/20/17: The bridge deck concrete was poured! The approach slabs on each side of the bridge will be complete during the week of 10/23/17 along with the installation of drainage and water lines.

UPDATE 9/14/17: The Court Street culverts over the Little River have been removed and concrete bridge is being constructed. The bridge will reopen in mid to late November. Please follow signs to use the detour via Pine St, Linden St, and Gary Lane.

UPDATE 7/5/17: The Court Street culverts over the Little River are being removed and replaced with a concrete bridge. The bridge will be closed beginning July 10th until the end of October. Please follow signs to use the detour via Pine St, Linden St, and Gary Lane. 

UPDATE 6/22/17: Utility work (gas, telephone) will begin next week but it will not require the detour. The detour will begin on Monday, July 10, 2017. Please refer to the detour map (link below) for vehicle and pedestrian detour routes.

Project Information:

The Court Street Bridge project is scheduled to begin the week of July 10, 2017, and is expected to continue through November 2017. The project involves removing the existing culverts and replacing them with a concrete bridge. The contractor is George R. Cairns & Sons. Vehicle traffic will be detoured via Pine St, Linden St, and Gary Lane. Pedestrian traffic can use the Gilman Park Foot Bridge to cross the river to Chadwick Lane then Court St.
