Fuller Lane Water Storage Tank

Update 6/5/2020: Beginning on Saturday, June 6th the Fuller Lane Water Tower will be offline for scheduled tank maintenance. During this time a modulating valve will be installed to assist with water pressure fluctuations to eliminate two separate shutdowns. This maintenance is necessary to maintain the water distribution system and water quality. We anticipate the work to be complete by Monday, June 15th. There may be times when water pressure is low, but we will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum. The Exeter Water Department appreciates your patience and understanding.

The Fuller Lane Water Storage Tank, also known as the Hampton Road Tank, is a vital part of Exeter's water storage and distribution system. This water system is primarily used for the Town's drinking and fire prevention supply. The Fuller Lane Water Storage Tank is 85 feet high and 46 feet in diameter. The tank has a capacity of over a million gallons of water and is capable of fluctuating up to 10 feet per day.

The tank's shut off valve triggers when the water inside reaches an elevation level of 202 feet to prevent overflow. This value was recently improved to control its speed. The improvements greatly reduced the stress the shut-off value placed on the water system.
