Pay Range:                            $22.25-$29.92** (13 steps + excellent benefits)

**New wage scale effective 7/1/2025 $24.1413 - $34.4197

Description:  The Town of Exeter is currently seeking a full time Mechanic for its vehicle maintenance department. The position is responsible for maintenance and repairs of vehicles and related mechanical equipment. Performs New Hampshire State Safety Inspections of registered vehicles. Ability to understand and follow verbal, written or demonstrated instructions. Ability to make emergency repairs of equipment at job sites or equipment location. Weld and modify equipment and fabricate parts and devices as necessary or as directed. Participates in snow removal operations, when required.

 

Qualifications:  Completion of a high school diploma or GED and 5 to 8 years’ experience. Additional certifications needed; ASE in automotive or medium/heavy truck, EVT and NH State Safety Inspection. Must also possess a valid Driver’s License and have a good driving record. New Hampshire CDL Class B driver’s license with air brake certification and tank endorsement preferred or able to obtain within six months of hire.
