Curbside Collection

Leaves and grass will be picked up during the week of April 21st - 25th on your regular pick-up day, up to 12 biodegradable bags per residence. Residents may also drop off leaves at the Transfer Station for composting, permit and bags are not required for drop-off.

Park Street Bridge Closure

Effective February 12, 2025, Park Street Bridge is CLOSED until further notice due to the failure of a section of the wooden bridge deck. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes. NHDOT has been notified and will be assessing the situation. Updates will be provided as soon as possible.

Light snow will move into the area after midnight, with an inch or so of accumulation before the Thursday morning commute. The snow will change to rain mid to late morning, before ending late in the day.

Hampton Road and High Street Cross Country Sewer Maintenance
Fri 11/15/24

The Exeter Public Works Department will be mowing the cross-country sewer main along the Town’s right-of-way from Phinney Lane to Gilman Lane. This work is set to begin on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Mowing will be performed during the day between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Weather permitting this work will take approximately two (2 ) weeks to complete. The equipment to be used will be a mini-tracked excavator with a flail mower. The work is expected to be finished by November 26th, weather permitting. Abutters of this project will be notified.

Water Main Flushing

3/25/2025: The Exeter Water Department will flush water mains during the weeks of April 6th to May 2nd, 2025. Flushing will be performed at night during the first week, and during the day for 2-4 weeks. We will flush from 9 pm to 7 am during the night, and 7:30 am to 2:30 pm during the day.

Squamscott River Siphon Improvement Project regularly updated

7/26/24 - The sewers are all constructed and active as required by the project.  The previous siphon has been discontinued.  For next week, there is another sewer manhole cover in the parkway that needs to be lowered and landscaping activities will continue.

7/26/24 - The roadway shoulders and sidewalks are completely paved.  Next week pavement striping will occur after a NHDOT inspection and approval.  The loamed areas will be hydroseeded.  There will be ongoing periodic work around the rapid flashing pedestrian beacon to install additional overhead lighting.

9/5/24 - On Friday, September 6th the Highway Department will be cleaning out the catch basins on Elm Street starting at 5am until noon. Crews will be out today posting "No Parking" signs near the catch basins to ensure the crews have access. Some noise is anticipated while we use the Vactor truck. 2/23/2024: Late last night (2/22/2024) a water main break occurred at the intersection of Gary Lane and Court Street. Water service was shut off and remained off for some time during the repair. Residents in this area may experience discolored water.

Winter Emergency Parking Bans
Thu 11/30/23

2/18/2025: Overnight Snow Removal: Public Works crews, with the assistance of contractors, will be conducting overnight snow removal operations in the Downtown Area (Water Street, Center Street, High Street to Buzzell Ave, Front Street to Spring Street), and on Lincoln Street and Portsmouth Ave, to clear intersections and remove accumulated snow from high-traffic areas. Operations will begin at 11:00 PM on Wednesday, February 19th, and continue through the night. Please avoid these areas if possible. Work will include the use of  snowblowers, sidewalk tractors, front-end loaders and dump trucks, and will generate noise during operations. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep the community safe.
