Webster Avenue Sewer Pump Station Improvement Project

Project Background

The Webster Avenue Pump Station pumps sewage from the Portsmouth Avenue sewer-shed over Jady Hill to the sewer collection system. It is then transported across the Squamscott River, via two sewer siphons, to the Main Pump Station on Water Street.  From there, it is pumped to the Town's Wastewater Treatment Facility off Newfields Road. This project will upgrade and increase the current flow capacity at the Webster Avenue sewage pump station from 800 to 1,200 gallons per minute.  Improvements will also include deepening the wetwell at the pump station and installing a new 12-inch HDPE force main from the pump station, up Webster Avenue, and down Jady Hill Avenue to House #55.

This project is being done in conjunction with the Squamscott River sewer siphon project, which is expected to be completed in August 2024.

Funding for the project was authorized by voters at the 2020, 2022, and 2024 Town Meetings, under articles 5, 3, and 6, respectively. Funding sources include a $1,050,000 Congressionally Directed Spending request, $1,395,000 State ARPA appropriation, $3,255,000 Clean Water SRF loan, and $213,300 SRF Amendment.

Project Updates

10/28/24: The contractor continues construction of the pump station, and has ceased construction of the force main for the season and will begin the installation of the force main in the Spring of 2025.

9/26/2024: The contractor is constructing the wet well under the proposed pump station.  Pipe crews are installing the 12-inch HDPE in Webster Ave starting near the pump station and working toward Jady Hill Ave.  The gas company relocated a portion of the gas main to make way for the force main construction.

7/15/2024: Construction for the Webster Ave Pump Station and Force Main Upgrade Project will begin on Monday, July 15th.  The Town's contractor, Northeast Earth Mechanics, LLC., will mobilize to the construction site, install erosion controls, prepare the site for construction activities, and install sheeting for the new wetwell and valve vault. Typical working hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  Noise and vibration from trucks and heavy equipment are expected. The Town has hired the engineering firm, Wright-Pierce, to assist with construction observation and administration. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this important project.

8/11/2020: Beginning August 14, 2020, the Town of Exeter Public Works Department and Wright-Pierce will be conducting field investigations for a sewer siphon, pump station and associated force main upgrades project on Jady Hill Avenue, Douglass Way, Webster Avenue, Swasey Parkway, and Duck Point.  The fieldwork will take several days to complete and crews will be on site intermittently over the next two to three months.  The majority of fieldwork will be conducted within the road Right-of-Way or along the Squamscott River.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

· Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place.
· All driveways will remain accessible.
· Soil borings will cause some noise and disruption.
· Fieldwork will occur between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM
