Transfer Station

Permit Requirement: Per Town Ordinance (Chapter 11 - 1101.1), Transfer Station permits must be affixed to the inside lower left corner of the vehicle's windshield for entry validation and traffic flow.

Purchase at the Public Works Office, Town Office, or online.

License plate number and ID required.

Regular: Tues 9 AM - 1 PM, Fri & Sat 9 AM - 2:30 PM

Oct 15 - Dec 15: Tues 9 AM - 1 PM, Fri 9 AM - 2:30 PM, Sat 8 AM - 2:30 PM, Sun 12 PM - 4 PM

Accepted Items (Free with ID): Used oil (unmixed), leaves (biodegradable bags only), Christmas trees (decorations removed), books, calculators, electronics for Soldiers, and compost.

Items Requiring a Permit:

Brush: Small load ($25), Large load ($50) – contractors need load tickets.
White goods & metals: Appliances, grills, lawnmowers (fluids removed), and non-ferrous metals.
Wood: Unpainted, untreated, under 4' long.
Propane tanks: 20 lbs or less.
Trash: Exeter Blue Bags required.
Batteries: Rechargeable only.
Mercury-containing items: Thermostats, fluorescent lights (also collected on Hazardous Waste Day).

Items Requiring Both Permit & Sticker:

Electronics ($10): Computers, TVs, printers, etc. (Best Buy & Staples may recycle for free).

Freon Appliances ($10): Fridges (bins/shelves removed), freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers.

Construction Debris ($8): Windows, doors, sinks, toilets, bundled treated wood, carpet.
Construction bags ($8) for drywall, shingles, insulation, etc.

Not Accepted at Transfer Station:

Bulky items: (Couches, mattresses) require a $5 bulk sticker for curbside pickup.

Hazardous Waste: Collected on a designated October Saturday.

Tires, auto chemicals, asbestos, sharps/syringes, pharmaceuticals. Sharps should be sealed in a plastic bottle and disposed of in household trash. Medications can be dropped off at Exeter PD.
