Exeter Historical Society
Exeter Historical Society - 47 Front Street (also Town Civil War Memorial and former Library)
The Building at 47 Front Street was built in 1896 and is currently leased to the Exeter Historical Society. The building used to serve as the Town's library until the latest library was built on the Exeter River back in 1987. At that point, the Town voted to lease the building to the Historical Society.
Recently, several improvements have been made to the building by the Public Works Maintenance Department including the installation of a replacement slate roof and a new furnace. These improvements will help sustain this historical town-owned structure. The replacement roof was completed in 2012 and is expected to last at least 80 years.
